Following on from the last … episode … we have two pieces of excitement:
New Hardware
Not greatly different except a pretty solid antenna and new firmware. Please excuse the obviously studio shot photography…
Needless to say, RF performance is now somewhat better. A bug was found in the mobile app in the process - the new version is still waiting on approval from Apple but you can download for Android now.
NMEA filtering
The other thing we get from the new hardware (and mobile app) is complete packet headers from NMEA. This is relevant for those that have deeply complex NMEA setups and need to filter out instruments that are being, perhaps, less than helpful. Recordings that are able to have NMEA filtering applied have a “Source Maps” button on your user screen and they look like this:
Note that this applies to hardware captures as well as imported “CanBoat” style logs.
Another little detail that’s been clarified is that the attitude data is taken from the compass wherever possible. If there is imported attitude data from a different source you’ll get a warning listed on the “finished processing” email. Like this…
